Stuck at home with schools, parks and restaurants closed?  Tired of practicing “social distancing” during the COVID-19 outbreak?  Give yourself a break from the chaos and anxiety and spend a few minutes with spectacular images that were judged the top 24 photos in North American Nature Photography Association’s (NANPA) Nature Photography Showcase.

There is ample proof that being in nature is good for you.  There’s even evidence that simply viewing scenes of nature can reduce feelings of stress, anger and fear and increase feelings of pleasure and wellbeing.  So, if a hike through Yosemite isn’t in your immediate future, take a break from the noise and angst and take a virtual journey through some amazing natural scenes and a couple of artistic reinterpretations.

While you’re there, follow the links and check out the portfolios of these excellent photographers.  Or, dive deeper and lose yourself in landscapes or birds, plants or macro, or simply explore any or all of the top 250 Showcase images.

The NANPA Showcase is an annual nature photography competition among NANPA members.  A panel of distinguished industry professionals selects the top 250 images from among the thousands of photos entered and also chooses the top 24 photos.  Categories include Conservation, Mammals, Landscape, Birds, Macro/Micro/Other and Altered Reality.  The top 250 images are highlighted on the NANPA website and in Expressions NANPA’s annual journal.
