October 4-7, 2012 - Bar Harbor, ME A fall visit to Acadia is a "life list" experience for any nature photographer. Join us as 4 professional photographers take you on various field trips to capture all this park has to offer. Field trips will occur during the prime lighting hours in the morning and afternoons on Friday and Saturday. Midday we'll gather at the hotel for critiques and question and answer sessions with the pros. Our shooting time will wrap up on Sunday morning, then everyone will gather for a final farewell brunch. October 12 - 15, 2012 : Photograph Acadia National Park and the Maine Coastline with professional photographer John Slonina. We will be visiting one of our favorite places to photograph. It is one of the most dramatic areas on the east coast. Experience the magic of the rock bound coast and soaring granite cliffs where the mountains meet the sea. October is a great time to photograph this awesome area. This should be peak fall foliage. Beautiful forests, mountain peaks, wildflowers, birds, lakes, streams, waterfalls, lighthouses, tide pools, carriage roads etc. We also will be on the lookout for park wildlife including seals, deer, beavers, eiders, and foxes. Be one of first people to see and photograph the rising sun in the country. Cadillac Mountain sweeping vistas has a view you will never forget. The days are paced to maximize photo opportunities and the schedule will be flexible to maximize getting the best light. October 20-21, 2012 : In this autumn workshop we will photograph reflections, textures, patterns, wildlife and some colorful forest scenes along the Potomac River. There is a good chance of getting a foggy morning at this time of the year. Depending on weather conditions, we might visit other parks in the area, as well. Short hikes with your camera gear should be expected. There will be field sessions in the morning and evening. Classroom sessions will be held both afternoons in Vienna, VA. These sessions will give participants a chance to develop a digital worflow from downloading files to their computer to oraganizing and processing them. Everything from capture to process using Lightroom and Photoshop will be covered. Participants will also receive feedback on their images in a group critique session. You will also learn how to add metadata (your name and address) to images as well as keywords. The incredible biodiversity makes this one of the top areas in the country for nature photography. October is an magical time to be there. The lush forests, beautiful mountain ranges, rivers will be great with an explosion of fall color. We also will photograph wildlife. Black bear, white tailed deer, coyote, and wild turkey are commonly seen. White Tailed Deer will be in the rut and have large antlers. This tour will greatly enhance your skill as a photographer. We will be doing a lot of landscape, wildlife, and macro photography. We also have a conference room reserved for additional critique sessions and lessons. We will cover several subject including exposure, depth of field, histograms, shutter speed, filters, macro, wildlife photography, digital darkroom, Photoshop, and lightroom. Our itinerary will be planned around recent wildlife activity and weather conditions. We will take advantage of the lighting and the unique opportunities. Our goal is to capture the best images we can during our tour. Each day we will be starting before dawn and ending after sunset. However, we typically will take a mid day break to rest and recuperate. The tour is based in Townsend, TN which is centrally located to many of the parks best photo locations. Oct. 24th thru Nov. 3rd : Photographer Steve Gettle will lead this trip to the iconic Galapagos Islands. The entire trip has been designed to maximize photographic opportunities for participants. Our group will have the entire boat, which is critical because it ensures that we will have total control over when we get on and off the islands. I can pretty much guarantee that we will be the first folks on the islands every morning and the last people off the islands every evening.
