I am a graduate of Brooks Institute, 1980, and have been a professional photographer for 30 years and have run several different photo businesses' from two studios in two cities to starting two stock photo agencies, selling the first to a Getty subsidiary and the second is still in business. I have written "The Office" column for NANPA's magazine Currents for two+ years. I have been teaching off and on during the 30 years and now teach more workshops and I currently publish the blog Pro Nature Photographer, dedicated to the profession of outdoor and nature photography.

How long have you been an active member of NANPA? I have been a member if NANPA for about 5 years. I was breakout speaker in Florida.

What Summits/Forums have you attended? I have attended 3 summits: Palm Springs, Florida, Reno.

Have you served as a NANPA volunteer or worked on a committee? I have not served on a committee or volunteered.

What particular expertise and/or qualities would you bring to the NANPA Board? My professional experience makes me believe that I can contribute to the board as an advocate for professional photographers working in the business. I lived, breathed, and felt for 30 years the challenges that face professional photographers as they work to prosper in a challenging business environment. I have been represented by 12 different stock photo agencies in my career besides the two I have started myself besides licensing my own work to magazines, ad agencies, design forms, and corporate clients.

How would you use your abilities to further the NANPA mission? I would like to advocate for professional photographers trying to make a living in this business. NANPA has great programs for aspiring students, the foundations, conservation photography, and volunteer opportunities, and I would like to see NANPA advocate more for the working professional members. There is a need in my opinion to develop programs that meet the needs of the established professional whether in the areas of marketing, image licensing, publishing, pricing and negotiation.

How do you envision NANPA's role in the future of nature photography? How would you further that role? I see NANPA continuing to be the leader in promoting conservation photography, photographic education, and professional standards. I will bring to NANPA my experience of working in this business for 30 years. I would like to see NANPA's professional photographers recognized as the best of the best in the industry. This pool of long established professionals is one of NANPA's greatest assets

Why do you want to serve on the NANPA Board of Directors? If elected, what would you personally like to accomplish during your term on the NANPA Board? I would like to serve on the board simply to make a difference by using my years of experience in the best way possible. If elected I would like to increase NANPA'S advocacy on behalf of working professional photographers while at the same time providing tools for the younger or newest members working professionally in the business. Professional nature photography is a business and NANPA has the opportunity and obligation is guide business standards for our profession.
