What to see and do while you're at the Summit
Michael P. Thompson

Not only is Las Vegas surrounded by some of the most gorgeous nature photography opportunities in North America, the activities and speakers at this premiere meeting just continue to get better. Keynote speakers confirmed so far include: Roger Ressmeyer, Robert Glenn Ketchum, Art Wolfe, and Klaus Nigge, and long-time photographic icon Gordon Parks will be on hand for a special session. There will also be a number of breakout sessions, led by some of the top nature photographers in the world. See the Daily Highlights here.

In addition, a stellar lineup of workshops will be held before and after the main Summit activities. Jane Kinne, Deborah Free, Larry Michael and Gary Braasch will lead workshops, and NANPA and PACA, the Picture Agency Council of America will co-host a workshop on how to break into the stock photography market. Guided field trips are planned to the Valley of Fire/Lake Mead area, Hoover Dam, Death Valley, and beyond.

NANPA Foundation LIVE AND SILENT AUCTIONS

In 1996, NANPA formed the NANPA Foundation, a non-profit organization designed specifically to foster the awareness of and appreciation for nature through photography. Our efforts have centered on youth education and refuge blinds programs.

In order to maintain these and other new programs, the Foundation has several fund-raising efforts including the annual Live and Silent Auctions. Through generous support and donations from the members and corporate sponsors we continue these highly respected efforts. Our goal is to raise at least $14,500 at the 2001 Auctions.

During the Live Auction, time with professional photographers and other VIPs will be auctioned for your education and enlightenment. Based on last year's experience this was one of the highlights of the meeting. The Silent Auction grows each year with more art works, artifacts and practical items every registrant will want to bid on.

2001 NANPA SUMMIT TRADE SHOW

This year's Trade Show will be bigger and better than in previous years. More non-competitive time has been allocated for you. Come and visit with your friends from the trade and see the latest in photographic products and services. At your request, we are repeating and expanding the popular Exhibitor Demonstrations. Our exhibitors are committed in their support of NANPA's membership. They invite you to visit their booths, ask questions, attend their demonstrations and, of course, take advantage of the exceptional values offered during this year's Trade Show.

NANPA BOOKSTORE

We will continue the very popular NANPA Bookstore for you to see and buy this year's hottest publications, newest how-to manuals and a broad range of other interesting products. The Bookstore is also your merchandise headquarters for display and purchase of NANPA shirts, pins and other logo items. In a special event, many authors will be available for a Friday evening reception, January 19, to talk about their books and personalize your copies. (Click here to download the form to submit your book for the bookstore.) (PDF)

NANPA’s Seventh Annual International Summit promises to be the premiere event of 2001 for photographers who want to network with their peers, meet those they admire, learn from the best, and photograph some of the greatest landscape and wildlife around.
