| This is the first in a series of monthly messages designed to keep you informed about the 9th Annual NANPA Summit. Each issue will highlight aspects of the Summit, to be held in Albequerque, New Mexico, February 19 - 23, 2003. We have included many links to websites that can give you even more information. We hope you enjoy these newsletters. Please give us your feedback or questions for future issues.
IN THIS ISSUE:
ANNOUNCING NANPA'S 9TH ANNUAL SUMMIT PROGRAM
The program is in the mail for NANPA's 9th Annual Summit. For the first time you will be able to register for the meeting on-line through the NANPA Web site! These on-line forms will process your registration, forward your information to the NANPA office and send you a confirmation by email right away.

NEW THIS YEAR!!
NANPA is offering a payment plan for the Annual Summit registration fees. Rather than paying for the cost of your registration total in one month or putting it on a credit card and having to pay all those interest charges, you can now make periodic small payments and alleviate some of the financial burden.
You can choose the date for each of your payments based on what is most convenient for you. You can make your payments monthly, bi-monthly, or even weekly (maximum of five total payments processed by January 24th). You may choose to make a larger payment(s) now and a smaller one in December. The choice is yours. See the registration form or the Web site for the complete payment option details.
We hope that this payment option will assist all our members and our non-member friends, to attend the Annual Summit.

Did you know that you can sell your books in the NANPA Bookstore at the Summit? If you are interested in finding out how, contact Tammy Gustin tgustin@nanpa.org at the NANPA office or click here to download the bookstore participation form (PDF). The very popular NANPA Bookstore is a place at the Summit to see and buy this year's hottest publications, newest how-to manuals and a broad range of other products. The Bookstore is also your merchandise headquarters for display and purchase of NANPA shirts, hats, fleece, pins and other logo items. In a special event, many authors will be available for an evening reception on Friday to talk about their books and personalize your copies.

MEET KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Jim Brandenburg
Get more info from this website.
http://www.jimbrandenburg.com
Minnesota photographer Jim Brandenburg has traveled the globe for two decades on assignment for National Geographic. His photographs have won a multitude of national and international awards. He was named Kodak Wildlife Photographer of the Year by the Natural History Museum-London and BBC Wildlife magazine and twice he was chosen Magazine Photographer of the Year by the National Press Photographers Association. He was also a recipient of the World Achievement Award from the United Nations for his use of nature photography to raise environmental awareness, and earlier this year he received the NANPA Lifetime Achievement in Nature Photography award.
His books include Chased by the Light, Brother Wolf and White Wolf. He is currently working on Looking for the Summer, a sequel to Chased by the Light.
Jim has two galleries in Minnesota, one in Ely featuring his images of the Boundary Waters and the other in Luverne focusing on his prairie images. All profits from the Luverne gallery support the Brandenburg Prairie Foundation, which is dedicated to restoring the vanishing native prairie of southwestern Minnesota.
Keynote Address: Looking for the Summer A Daily Diary of the 93 Days of Summer
Using digital technology, Jim Brandenburg recently documented his 3,000,000-acre backyard wilderness on the Minnesota-Ontario border for all 93 days of summer. This was a continuation of his personal challenge of making one image per day throughout autumn, which debuted in National Geographic magazine and resulted in his best-selling book, Chased by the Light. This completes half of his marathon goal of covering a full year, one day at a time. His presentation's emphasis will concentrate upon the philosophical and personal explorations of this career-changing, if not life-changing, self-assignment.
