MEET A KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Art Wolfe
Art Wolfe's photographs are recognized throughout the world for their mastery of color, composition, and perspective.  Come to the Summit and see one of the most internationally acclaimed and published nature photographers of our time. His vision and passionate wildlife advocacy affirm his dedication to his work. Wolfe's photographic mission is multi-faceted. By employing artistic and journalistic styles, he documents his subjects and educates the viewer. His unique approach to nature photography is based on his training in the arts and his love of the environment.  He serves on the advisory boards of NANPA, the Nature's Best Foundation and the Wildlife Conservation Society. Art has been published in numerous books, magazines and calendars.

Keynote Address:
Edge of the Earth, Corner of the Sky

Through atmospheric and stunning photographs, Art Wolfe looks at the drama and spiritual essence of landscapes on all seven continents from Cappadocia to the Arctic, from the exotic translucent waters of the Grand Bahama Bank to the austere, haunting vastness of the Bolivian Altiplano. Based on his new book of the same name, this presentation represents the most profound expression of Art's 30-year career and the pinnacle of his more than 50 books. Art will add a lively and entertaining narrative of his adventures in the field while he was shooting for the book.

SUMMIT SPOTLIGHT CORNER
Portfolio and Editorial Reviews

Still haven't decided if you want to sign up for one?  Here are some comments from participants from previous years.

"NANPA's portfolio reviews provide a unique opportunity to improve your photography. By selecting the right reviewers, you can fine-tune your photography to accomplish your personal goals."

"Professional photographers are available to sharpen your photographic vision, stocks agents provide insight into how your images fit into the market, and editors help fine tune your editorial ideas. It is a rare opportunity to have so much talent and advice available in one location."

"Where else can you sit across a table with editors and professional photographers to find out exactly where your images and ideas rank in their eyes? "

"Receive positive as well as negative feedback. The reviewers explained how to make the images better as well as more marketable and it was done in a friendly, helpful manner."

"The reviewer was very interested in what I wanted to gain from the review."

So whether you are an advanced photographer, new to the field or just want some tips on how to make your images stand out from the others, the Portfolio and Editorial Reviews are a sure way to get your images before those who truly know what the market needs.

Sign up for as many sessions as you wish by selecting your preferred Portfolio or Editorial choices on the Review Registration Form included in your Summit brochure or on the NANPA Website. But act quickly, because these reviews fill to capacity every year. Review sign-ups are honored on a first-come, first-serve basis. See page 30 of the Summit brochure for suggestions on what to bring to a review.

Field Trip Attendees
Great news for those of you bringing your camera equipment to the Summit, the Transportation Safety Administration has recently eased the "one carry-on bag" limit to allow one additional bag of photographic equipment and film.  Quoting from the TSA website "This policy was expanded primarily to accommodate working photographers traveling with sensitive, valuable equipment."  For full details, see Airline Carry-on Restrictions Eased.

Each issue we will include a frequently asked question and answer section that we have compiled from NANPA members.  Please send your questions to Christy Powers at cpowers@nanpa.org.

"I have friends that live in the Portland area that are interested in attending the NANPA Trade Show.  Can someone attend the Trade Show without attending the Summit?"

The answer is yes.  The exhibit hall is open to the public on Saturday for a fee of $20.  For the $20 fee they will receive a Summit program and packet of information as well as a special exhibit access badge to get them into the trade show.  They just need to go to the NANPA Registration Desk located in the Jantzen Beach DoubleTree Hotel lobby.
