 Invitation to the Members' Showcase

For the first time, all Summit attendees have the chance to be included in the Members' Showcase. About 100 images will be chosen from submitted entries and featured in a multimedia program in Charlotte. The Showcase will also appear on the NANPA website for photo buyers to access through 2005.

Why should you participate in the Members' Showcase? Here's what the judges say:

"Never in the history of NANPA has so much possible exposure been offered for so little cost." - William D. Jaynes, Inner Reflections

"This is an opportunity to share your photos with people throughout the world." - Bonnie Stutski, Photo Editor, Smithsonian Magazine

"The Showcase may be the strongest nature collection of the year." - Wendy Shattil & Bob Rozinski, photographers

Images may be uploaded to the NANPA website by December 1st  for jurying. To submit your entry, check the appropriate box for the $25 jury fee on th registration form. Find details about the Members' Showcase on the website and in the Summit program (pg 38).

MEET Keynote Speaker:
Arthur Morris

When Arthur (Artie) Morris walked away from a 23-year stint as a New York City elementary school teacher in 1992, many people told him, "You are nuts! Nobody can make a living photographing birds full time!" That was all that he needed to hear. Artie's presentation follows the path of his second career, which began within a stone's throw of JFK Airport, in the mud and muck of the East Pond at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, and at present finds him one of today's most successful nature photographers.

A Bird Photographer's Story
Come along on a journey, one that takes you to most of North America's great bird photography hotspots alongside Artie Morris as he creates the images that appear with his apt credit line, "Birds As Art." In addition, we will meet many of the folks who have touched his life. Artie's work, noted for both its artistic design and technical excellence, is widely published all over the globe. Many credit him with fueling the growth in bird photography through his book The Art of Bird Photography (often called the classic how-to book on the subject) and his teaching at more than 300 workshops and seminars during the past two decades.

Question:
Where can I find travel and transportation information for the Summit?

REGISTRATION NEWS

Take A Closer Look --  Breakout session #15 is a little different and deserves a closer look.  Our panel of experts, Susan McElhinney, Tom Vezo, and Jim Zuckerman, will critique images submitted by NANPA members.  The panel will see the images for the first time during the breakout session.  The identity of the photographer will be hidden so the comments should be unbiased, educational, and enlightening.  You might agree or disagree with the critique but the entire session should be fun.

Would you like your images critiqued during this session? Go to http://www.nanpa.org/conferences/Summit2005/critique-photos.php and follow the instructions for uploading.
