Brown Bears of Alaska with Mollie Isaacs
July 15 - July 21
This brown bear adventure takes you to the shores of Lake Clark National Park, an area with one of the greatest concentrations of brown bear in Alaska. This superb location puts us right in the middle of brown bear country each and every day. This is by far the best place to photograph the bears safely, yet up close and personal in their environment. We and all of our camera gear are transported by ATV, driven by our naturalist guide, right to where the bears are. We observe them fishing, clamming, nursing, and playing in the water and the fields, with a backdrop of mountains and the Cook Inlet. Our guide knows where the bears are, and gets us in just the right position for the best light and the best action.
We stay in a classic Alaska lodge which is only a few hundred yards from the beach. We have the entire lodge to ourselves, so it is just our group for the week. That means everything runs on our schedule, based on the best photographic opportunities. The rooms are nicely decorated, and all our meals are chef-prepared. It is a relaxing place to unwind, a nice counterpoint to the excitement of our days photographing bears.
We will also have the opportunity for a short boat trip to a nearby rocky island where the puffins come to breed. A great photo opportunity.
This trip provides a rare opportunity to see and photograph truly wild brown bears like few others can.
