Merritt Island NWR with Colin Hocking
April 26 - April 29$595
Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and Canaveral National Seashore, Florida.
According to the US Fish & Wildlife Service, the refuge consists of 140,000 acres, and provides a wide variety of habitats: coastal dunes, saltwater marshes, freshwater impoundments, scrub, pine flatwoods, and hardwood hammocks that provide habitat for more than 1,500 species of plants and animals and 15 federally listed species.
What we’ll photograph
Setting out before dawn we’ll be ready to capture the sunrise and awakening wildlife. Our afternoons will allow us time to provide instruction, and to upload photos in preparation for image critiques before setting out for sunset to capture more glorious images!
We’ll have the opportunity to photograph Osprey, a variety of Herons, Egrets, Spoonbills and more. Because the refuge is also a protected National Seashore there will be plenty of wading birds, too. Of course, it wouldn’t be Florida without alligators!
What you’ll learn
It will be my goal not only to provide you with the opportunities to photograph stunning scenery, but also to educate you in the technical and aesthetic aspects of photography when capturing landscapes and wildlife.
