Polar Bears with Shayne McGuire
October 2, 2017 - October 7, 2017
Spend 4 days living in the furthest reaches of Alaska! Learn about the culture, see how the people live so isolated from the rest of the civilization. But most of all, come and experience the realm of the polar bears. We only have 4 people at a time on this tour! We follow strict guidelines on our bear viewing tour, as a permit is required. We view either by boat or suburban, depending on weather conditions, and ice conditions, and mostly, where the bears hang out. Early morning and late afternoon schedules are the best, with mid day a chance to come back for lunch and warm up. We see large males, females with cubs, sub adults and more. We can see groups of several bears together as well. the polar bears head out on the icy fingers of islands, away from the mainland. And there they wait for the ice to freeze so they can hunt their favorite food, seal. That is where we head the boat out to. We go out in the early morning and in the mid to late afternoon.
