Sanibel Island with Ron Gaskins & Amanda Haddox
February 7, 2021 - February 13, 2021$1785.00
Leave winter behind for Island Time! Sanibel Island, That is! This February, our Sanibel Island Time Photo Workshop will have you leaving your snow boots behind, grab your sandals and your camera. The warmth and beauty of Sanibel is calling you…Let us take you there!
Sanibel Island on the Gulf Coast of Florida is home to an abundance of natural gifts. You will enjoy views of lush tropical vegetation, miles of beaches and hundreds of bird varieties. Interestingly, this is all outnumbered by the countless seashells you will find on Sanibel’s beaches. This has earned Sanibel Island a well-deserved reputation as one of the best locations in the world to collect seashells! Along the beach, we’ll also find Sanibel Island’s unique lighthouse.
Access to the Island is over the Sanibel Causeway that spans the San Carlos Bay and connects the Island to South Fort Myers. There are two man-made causeway islands, located between each of the three bridges of the span. These islands have great opportunities for sunbathing, shelling, picnicking, and you may even see dolphins!
Sanibel Island is also home to the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge. This is a 7000+ acre home to over 50 types of reptiles and amphibians, over 30 mammal species, and more than 230 species of birds! Photographers will enjoy the observation tower as we travel the four-mile scenic drive.
In addition to all the natural beauty of the Island’s flora and fauna, we’ll also explore some of the area’s history. We plan to visit the Sanibel Historical Museum and Village, the Sanibel Cemetery, and the Captiva Chapel by the Sea.
We are including both lodging and local transportation as part of this workshop! We’ll be guests at the Hyatt Place in Fort Myers, and each participant will have their own room. On our way to our various venues, we’ll be traveling together in the “Super Van,” a roomy 15-passenger van.
