The Everglades Project – A Six-Year Journey
Bill Lea

I spend much of my time photographing black bears and the Great Smoky Mountains. I am drawn to causes. Black bears are so misunderstood and the real truth behind bears needs to be known. And yes, the Great Smoky Mountains are at times “loved to death”– there are needs for the Smokies. That said however, the Florida Everglades is one of the most threatened ecosystems on Earth. Most people who live in South Florida have never even been to Everglades National Park. It boasts of no majestic mountains, babbling brooks, or roaring waterfalls. Its beauty is in the detail of its amazing tropical, sub-tropical, and temperate flora and fauna. Most of all it needs saving! So my wife Klari and I decided to do our best to make a difference on behalf of the Florida Everglades by creating an affordable coffee-table book that featured the beauty, wonder, and dire need of this magnificent ecosystem. Our goal was to CONNECT people to the Everglades so they might take action on its behalf! This presentation will cover the various aspects (research, writing, book design, photographing, publishing, marketing, and more) of our six-year journey to produce The Everglades – Where Wonders Only Whisper.

Summit Super Sessions are $75/each and can be added with or without the full Summit registration.
