Winter in Lamar Valley with Trent Sizemore
February 12 - February 16$1197
Winter in Yellowstone is as close to a winter wonderland as you can possibly get. Snow and cold transform the landscape into something completely different from what you’ll see in the summer months. Wildlife like wolves, foxes, and coyotes all become easier to spot and, there’s the possibility to see one of the famous bobcats on the Madison River. Bald eagles, elk, river otters, moose, and of course bison will be possible to see as well. Thermal features of the geyser basins also take on a whole new appearance, as their steam freezes on everything around them – creating a very photogenic frost.
This is an instructional photography workshop, not simply a photo tour. This trip is good for photographers of any skill level. We will be looking for more than just a “proof” shot of an animal, just to say you saw it. We will look for great light, key behaviors, non-distracting backgrounds, vibrant colors, and other elements that improve your photographs. You’ll learn the fundamentals of photography as art, including the elements of art, and principles of design. We will also work on the technical side of the camera, looking at exposure, sharpness, dynamic range, depth of field, and more.
