Vermejo Park Ranch ~Sangre de Cristo Mountains, New Mexico (near Raton)

Capture great photos of Golden Eagles and Bald Eagles against the backdrop of the snow-covered Sangre de Cristo Mountains when you join me at Ted Turner's Vermejo Park Ranch, New Mexico. A plethora of these splendid raptors make their homes here each winter.

Our ringside seats allow us to get great photographs of the eagles as they soar, preen, and squabble amongst themselves while we sit snug in our photo blinds.

Eagles will be our focus, but nature’s other surprises won’t escape our notice. At nearly 600,000 acres of privately owned land, Vermejo Park hosts myriad wildlife including: Pronghorn, Elk, Mule Deer, Bison, and Coyotes. (Mountain Lions & Bobcats roam there, too, but we'd be really lucky to see them.)

In addition to the wildlife, we’ll enjoy working our cameras to create captivating winter scenes. Our quarters at Costilla Lodge put us in the high-country, perfectly positioned to photograph winter landscapes.

Costilla Lodge—far from urban hustle, and 25 miles from the Ranch’s complex—is really amazing. Glance out its many windows and you'll get great views of alpine prairies, amazing sunsets, and brilliant star-studded skies. While New Mexico is known as the land of enchantment, Costilla Lodge at Vermejo Park Ranch in winter is particularly enchanting.

During this photo tour, we’ll also explore night photography, including light painting under the dome of a dark sky, free from light pollution as, nestled into the high-country and far from city lights, Costilla Lodge makes the perfect setting for night-sky photography.

My “Wings over Winter at Vermejo” photo tour has room for only SIX (6) participants.

This four day/four night ALL-INCLUSIVE photo tour costs $1895. The chef-prepared meals are outstanding; you will be completely satisfied.
