MALHEUR, OREGON PHOTO WORKSHOP, APRIL 30-MAY 5, 2013

Join Ken Archer and Nate Chappell to photograph the birds at one of the top breeding bird locations in the US, Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon. The wetlands and grasslands here are full of breeding waterfowl and shorebirds and 3 species of owl are usually seen and photographed. There are a maximum of 5 photographers with 2 professional photographers as instructors ensuring that you will learn a lot as well as get some great images. In addition to a lot of great birds and some mammals the landscape is beautiful and the location remote. Nate will give presentations on photographing birds in the wild and on using flash for bird photography. We will have image critiques in the evening and work on raw file conversion.

Spectacular species we have a good chance of photographing include:
Sage Grouse
Great Horned, Short-eared and Burrowing Owls
Pronghorn
Cinnamon Teal
Long-billed Curlew
Wilson's Phalarope
Yellow-headed Blackbird
Willet
Clark's and Western Grebes
Western Meadowlark
American Avocet
Sandhill Crane
Black-necked Stilt
Wild Horses
and many more

Nate Chappell's images have appeared in the NANPA Showcase each of the past 4 years and his images are widely published, often appearing on MSN. Ken Archer has been a wildlife photographer the past 25 years and is a former first place category winner in Nature's Best Photo Contest and overall winner of the Wyoming Wildlife Photo Contest.
