Late fall doldrums

I live in central Pennsylvania, and after a flurry of fall color shooting (http://www.pbase.com/miketurns/fall_2009), my motivation has fallen off along with the leaves. This time of year it is getting cold, everything seems to be dead and brown, and there's no snow or ice yet to add interest. The insects and wildflowers are mostly gone or hidden, so some of the macro stuff I like to do is out. I'm not a big fan of shooting indoors, and don't have any kind of studio setup. Hopefully that doesn't sound too whiny, but I'm looking for a kick in the pants.

Does anyone have any tips for finding/creating interesting subjects for November/December outdoor shooting in the Appalachians and northeastern U.S.?

Late Fall Doldrums

Yes, I get that same way too up here in Northern Michigan. Winter is not much better because of the short days and lack of good light. We get maybe 2 or 3 days of sun a month in the winter and it always seems that those are the days when I am at work. Maybe just dedicate time to processing or learning some new photoshop techniques. Another option might be a trip. I am considering the Smoky Mountains with NANPA in the spring just to get back into the swing before the better seasons. Hang in there, the days are getting longer and spring will arrive as always.
