Gallery Wrap
I have been playing around a bit with gallery wraps. I think they are fairly attractive but I am very much a traditionalist when it comes to finishing my prints. I usually sell my prints mounted but not mated or framed because I have always thought that the purchaser may want to mat the print with a color to match his decor. If I finish it, it is going to be mated with white with a black frame.
I learned very quickly that properly stretching and mounting a canvas is not a quick and thoughtless job - it takes effort and attention. I will have to charge considerably more for a canvas finished in a gallery wrap than for a mounted print. So, the question is, do you think that gallery wraps are just a passing fad and will soon go out of fashion, or are they here to stay as the preferred method of finishing canvas printed photographs. bill |
