Default Bogue Chitto NWR/Pearl River, LA

A nice (if short,) trail through woods and boardwalk through swamp. Some new boardwalk just recently added. A few, short, fishing piers jut out over a fishing pond.
Very many golden orb weaver spiders in Fall.
Dozens of waterfowl roost on a small island near one of the fishing piers during the Spring and Summer. From that vantage point at that time of year, the area is backlit at sunrise. Waterfowl include white ibis, snowy and cattle egrets, little blue herons. Sometimes anhinga, cormorants, black bellied whistling ducks, green and great blue herons.
Site is open to fishing for a few months from June 1st on, but the site is primarily abandoned outside of those times.
Can be buggy--use/wear anti-bug treatments/clothing.

The entire refuge is 36,000 acres. To find the area I'm talking about, put these coordinates into Google Maps; 30.447299, -89.704946
