Default Wild Florida Photo Workshop: Everglades, Beach, Swamps

Wild Florida Photo Workshop

February 11-18, 2012

Saturday - Saturday

Photograph some the very best locations of Florida with professional nature photographer John Slonina. Florida natural lands are a nature photographer’s paradise. With it’s unique geology, wildlife, and climate. Escape the cold up north for warm South Florida.

Winter is known as the dry season. This is the time of year when the tropical storms and the summer rain have passed. The lower water levels means the wildlife is more concentrated and easier to find and photograph. Each day we will visit some of the best spots in the states. We will travel to a variety of natural habitats.

Each area was handpicked to provide the best photographic opportunities. This is based on John’s countless years of experience photographing Florida’s wild locations.

We will be visiting several A+ locations. They include Myakka River State Park, Venice Rookery, an Awesome Eagle Nest, Nesting Burrowing owls, Sanibel Island, Osprey nests, Corkscrew Swamp, Estero Lagoon and some secrets spots.

We also will visit Everglades National Park and Big Cypress Preserve two of John’s Favorite places. Everglades National Park is the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States. The Biodiversity here is incredible.

Florida is the premier destination for bird photography. Expect to shoot thousands of bird photos along with other wildlife. We will also be photographing several species of wildlife and awesome landscapes.

Please note: Wildlife is extremely unpredictable. We have an extremely high success rate but we can’t guarantee we will see any particular species. In the past I have had no problem finding and photographing the following species. We should also be able to get full frame photos since many birds and other animals are just a few feet away.

Birds: Bald Eagle, Osprey, Red Shouldered Hawk, Burrowing Owls, Barred Owls, Purple Gallinule, Rosette Spoonbills, Painted Bunting, Sandhill Crane, Green Herons, Little Blue Herons, Night Herons, Great Blue Herons, Tri Colored Herons, Reddish Egret, Great Egret, Snowy Egret, Cattle Egrets, Limpkin, Brown and White Pelicans, American Coot, Moorhens, Wood Stocks, Cormorants, Anhinga, Black and Turkey Vultures, Glossy and White Ibis.

Mammals: Manatee, River Otter, Dolphins, Deer, Marsh Rabbits,

Reptiles: Gopher Tortoise, Crocodile, American Alligator, Several species of Turtles.

Since we will be shooting a high volume of pictures. Please bring lots of cards or film. We also recommend you bring a portable external hard drive to back up your images.
