Bill, I researched iBooks Author and was so impressed that I'm actually considering a Mac purchase since it's the only computer it works on.
That said, Lightroom 4 has a book feature that can be integrated with Blurb and Blurb can convert it to an e-book. Not sure how far it goes to make it interactive, including videos, etc., like iBooks is supposed to do.
I'm also looking at Adobe InDesign CS 5.5 to see what can be done. Steep learning curve, but now that they have a monthly subscription, it's a mover viable solution that it was, in my opinion.
Anybody have a good deal on a Mac?
