The July trip will explore the diverse wildlife and landscape between Juneau and Petersburg. Highlights are brown bears feeding on salmon and pods of humpback whales in search of herring. The lush temperate rain forests, calving glaciers and dramatic fjords are backdrops for our wildlife subjects or spectacular landscapes on their own. From delicate orchids to showy fireweed, summer wildflowers add color accents to the hanging gardens, meadows and forests. This is a broad-based trip sampling the many flavors of southeast Alaska.
August/September - Our southeast Alaska trips are very popular during peak whale and bear season, so we’ve added late summer dates which allow us even more time spent with these remarkable animals. By starting in Petersburg and ending in Wrangell, we’ll concentrate on the most spectacular wildlife southeast Alaska has to offer. From whale watching in Frederick Sound to bear viewing at Anan Creek and Pack Creek and salmon running throughout the entire region, this trip offers everything a photographer or wildlife lover can imagine.
