Default Twilight Approaches

Closing out my 2014 photography portfolio and was trying to get one last image to round out my "2014 Best of..." gallery.

I had not done any hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park since August, so I felt like trying to create a sunrise image from Sprague Lake. As I researched & planned my shots, the weather was looking undecided.

By Friday night, the conditions looked to be good, so I got up at 4am on Saturday morning and made my way to Sprague Lake. As I trekked over to Sprague Lake from the parking lot, the first hints of twilight began to show. I quickly set up, created a couple of test shots, then waited.

I wasn't paying super-close attention to the time, so the title is actually a misnomer as the time was bout 10 minutes past Twilight, but still fantastic light & colors!
