NANPA Foundation - Refuge Photo Blind Program
On October 9, 1997, NANPA Foundation President Jane Kinne attended the MOU signing with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, in Washington D. C. Jamie Rappaport Clark, Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, asked if NANPA would be interested in a photo blind program for those refuges in the system found suitable.
In March of the following year, Jane Kinne approached Jim Clark of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service to assist NANPA with planning and implementation of the NANPA Refuge Blind Program. NANPA shared with NWRS a regional list of eight Refuge Blinds as outlined by NANPA Foundation Board member Karen Hollingsworth. An agreement was forged to choose one refuge from each of the seven continental U.S. regions.
Thanks to the NANPA Foundation and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, a large number of projects have been completed or are underway.
Read Jane Kinne's 2005 Currents article on the status of the blinds program.
