Hunt’s has been a partner with NANPA since 1999. When Gary Farber first joined, he was only 22 years old. During his years as an active NANPA member, he has gotten to know and befriend many other members and built many long-lasting relationships. He’s been involved with both the high school and college program and continues to stay in touch with many of the people who participated in each.
Hunt’s is a full-service camera store with eight retail locations across New England that’s been family owned since the doors first opened in 1889 as a pharmacy. As interest in photography grew, Hunt’s shifted its emphasis from the pharmacy business to that of cameras and accessories and, by 1993, photography and imaging equipment had become the primary focus. Hunt’s stocks everything from DSLR’s and mirrorless cameras and lenses, to professional video equipment, pro audio, studio lighting, speedlights and, well, you name it! Hunt’s also has a full-service lab offering large format printing, film processing, and photo gifts. Hunt’s was recognized as the 2013 E-tailer of the Year from Digital Imaging Reporter.
Hunt’s has been more than just a financial sponsor and advertiser. It’s also been involved in NANPA’s High School and College Scholarship Programs. What makes them go those extra steps and get more deeply engaged?
Gary has continued to support the high school and college program because he wants to help the photographers of the next generation. We’d like to see more younger people be involved with photography and see them at more events. We want to continue to grow these events as years go on and attract a younger generation of photographers.
Gary has continued to support and engage with NANPA because he has met many long-time customers who have turned into close friends. He thinks NANPA brings a variety of things to the table that other associations do not. Things such as conservation, care for the environment, and the overall idea behind nature photography. It is also a great way for us to connect with national and international workshop leaders and build relationships with them as well as the members.

What separates Hunt’s from the competition is our dedication to building long-term relationships with everyone and not just making a quick sale. We think of everyone as much more than just a customer. This has given us the ability to separate ourselves from the competition and has given us many life-long customers who we have become very close with.
