President's Message Thanks and Acknowledgements Several issues ago in Currents, I told you how excited I was to become the president of NANPA. Now, having nearly completed my term, I can tell you that having a leadership role in such a great organization is an honor. Members have seen NANPA continue to grow and to take an important place in the world of nature photography. This is due in part to the work of dedicated volunteers and staff. NANPA has added considerable value to membership by providing not only the Annual Summit, but also many additional venues where members can learn, socialize and share our passion for nature in all its forms. Road Shows and Regional Events have made it possible to expand our reach to the membership. Many more member benefits have been added as well and have been described in earlier issues of Currents. We have also undertaken several initiatives to deal with legislation and directives that impact our ability to practice nature photography. We are actively working with many other photographic organizations to help make our voice more powerful on our members' behalf. I envision this area of activity as becoming more important as time goes by. It has been a true pleasure to work with a dedicated Board of Directors who contribute not only their talents (and they have many), but also endless hours of their time for the best interests of all members. They have my heartfelt thanks, as do all of the committees, for they are the fundamental unit of NANPA. I know there are many individuals who also contribute greatly to NANPA. You are all appreciated. Keep your thoughts and suggestions coming. Our staff at the Resource Center is invaluable, working daily to keep NANPA operational. I especially want to thank Christy Powers who has been instrumental in planning and executing our Summits for many years. Christy has moved on to a new opportunity, and we will miss her. NANPA is exceptional in its ability to find and develop a great cadre of people who are willing to take on leadership roles. Because of this, I feel no regret in leaving office. I know that Kathy Adams Clark will do a great job as our incoming president. Please give her the same super support you have afforded me during this past year. I look forward to enjoying NANPA for many years to come. Thanks to all of you.
