President's Message Welcome Aboard What an honor to be writing to you as president of NANPA. This organization has been an important part of my life for more than a decade. I've watched it grow and volunteered countless hours to help it achieve its goals. I look forward to the coming year as we continue to work to make NANPA a strong, vital organization that has an impact on the lives of many people. My NANPA membership stretches back to that first Summit in Ft. Myers in 1995. At that Summit, my day job was in human resources but I had a goal to one day become a professional nature photographer. People I met in Ft. Myers are now my friends, clients and business associates, and they have helped me achieve my goal. Today, I'm not only a professional nature photographer with four books in the works, but I also lead photo tours and own a successful stock agency. NANPA is “the connecting point for the nature photography community” and members connect at our Summits, the Road Shows and Regional Events. We connect when we make a posting to the website Discussion Boards, write an article for Currents, enter the Showcase or volunteer to work on a committee. The year ahead of us is filled with opportunities to achieve more goals. I encourage you to add two goals to your list of things to achieve in 2007. First, set a goal to use your skills, knowledge and photography to educate the public about this beautiful, fragile world we live on. Second, set a goal to lend your hand to help NANPA become a stronger and more dynamic organization. Together we can have an impact that will really make a difference. In closing, I'd like to thank everyone who volunteered and donated in 2006 to help NANPA achieve its goals. Committee chairs, committee members and board members gave an incredible number of hours throughout the year. Thanks for your time and creativity. Photo buyers and editors get thanks for lending their support so that NANPA can truly be a connection point where photographers and clients meet. Vendors get hardy thanks for spreading the word about their wonderful products. Donors, both of money and in-kind goods, get thanks for helping NANPA stretch further than it could with its own resources.
