President's Message Photography is Technology Technology. Today, photography is about technology. Any photographer, editor, vendor, creative or agency who is serious about photography has to embrace technology. That can be a blessing or a curse, depending on your point of view, but the reality is photography and technology are one. This issue of Currents is focused on technology. I hope you find the articles fascinating and take away a lot of useful information. Keep an eye out for a regular technology column as this newsletter expands and grows into a full-fledged magazine next year. NANPA members have asked for more and our wonderful editors are prepared to deliver. But what? You say you’re a photographer and not a techno junkie? You’d rather be out shooting with a camera than reading about computers. I understand that standing with a camera in a natural setting is the best place to be, but the reality is that if you know the technology behind the craft, you’ll be better off. The simple act of plugging an entry level digital SLR into a small printer to make 4x6 prints can be a breeze or a nightmare. Uploading images to a printing house can work seamlessly or be fraught with problems. Photography today is about technology. Smart photographers embrace it in order to enjoy our craft and prosper in the industry. Read the information on the following pages written by your fellow NANPA members. The beauty of an organization like NANPA is that we share our knowledge and experience. In this world of fast-paced technological innovations, sharing information is the only way to survive.
