This is a 5 day pre tour for our main Ecuador Bird Photography Tour. On this 5 day tour you will fly from Quito, Ecuador to Coca, Ecuador and then board a boat for a 4 hour trip down one of the main tributaries of the Amazon, the Napo River to award winning Sani Lodge. At Sani Lodge you will have 5 days and 4 nights of bird and wildlife photography from canoes, canopy towers and at parrot clay licks. You will be led by 2 excellent photographers and birders, Charles Gangas and Guilherme Battistuzzo. There will be options to photograph the indigenous people and do night walks for macro photography. Some of the spectacular birds you should photograph include the prehistoric Hoatzin, Ringed and Amazon Kingfishers, Macaws and several other parrot species. Several monkey species are possible as well as Black Caimans. Most of all the Ecuadorian Amazon is an enchanting region.
Join Charles and Jerrine Gangas to photograph the birds and wildlife of beautiful Thailand. During this photo tour you should have great photo opportunities with many beautiful birds, Bryde’s Whales, Asian Elephants and much more. The trip starts in Bangkok where there will be a pre trip weekend of visiting temples in Bangkok. Then we head down to the Gulf of Thailand to spend 2 days photographing bubble feeding Bryde’s Whales from a boat in the Gulf of Thailand. Next we head to a lovely nature lodge just outside Keang Krachan National Park. There are several sets of hides in the area which attract a great variety of birds and small mammals. Highlights include the Kalij Pheasant, Red Junglefowl and Mouse Deer. We will also spend time inside the park which is excellent for birds and primates, including White-handed Gibbons. Lastly we will head down to Kuiburi National Park where we will have Asian Elephant safaris on 2 afternoons. Then we return to Bangkok for your flight home. This trip features comfortable accommodations, excellent Thai food and exposure to the wonderful, friendly Thai culture.
During a 1999 trip to Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe, Nate Chappell became serious about nature photography, and in 2007 he and his wife Angie decided to start a wildlife photography tour and workshop company, Trogon Photo Tours, http://www.trogontours.net/. During the course of his travels, which have included trips to all continents except Antarctica, Nate has photographed more than 1,700 species of birds.
