Workshops and Tours

The best advice I can give you is to attend workshops and tours by several different photographers and see what parts of them you like and do not like. Use this as a guide.

Being a good...

Lightroom Metadata

Are you looking for a way to read out the metadata of the images? I've had good success reading the metadata out with PHP using the GD Image Library resizing function. This doesn't take the library...

Stock Footage Outlets

Hi Rick,

It looks like more and more traditional still photo agents are getting into stock footage as well, so if you already have an agent it might be possible that they will get into this in the...

Hi Annette,

To answer your question, Smith-Southwestern, Impact Photographic, Reiman, and Inner Reflections, though I might be leaving some out. It gets difficult to keep track of.

Social Networking

The true problem with social networking is the time involved. Yes, you need to make regular updates, but I find that the time required to regularly post updates is the most prohibitive aspect. The...

New Canon Cams

I've not heard about the new Canon video cameras yet. I'll have to keep an eye out for them when they're fully announced. I think there will be a lot of competition in the next couple years as more...

Help

Hi,

I'm not able to directly help you - I'm in charge of the High School Scholarship Program, not the magazine subscriptions, but I can pass along the number of NANPA's resource center, they...

Studio Space

Hi

I'm not sure what to suggest, as I need some more information about what you intend to shoot in the studio. It this for advertising work - big or small, will you be shooting food or lifestyle...

The NanoFlash adapter will allow you to record in 4-2-2 with either the Sony Ex1 or Ex3 through the SDI port. This is a pretty big step up, and almost a lateral move in price, considering how much...

I didn't realize the caption read as you quoted. As I said, I haven't subscribed to OP in several years, and so I didn't see the published image first hand - and didn't realize they wrote the...

Hunts

Gary has been a great supporter of the High School program, and we appreciate all he does for us.

I've also been buying from, and referring people to Gary for years now. The one thing above...

Photo Deception

I can understand the frustration with OP about their incorrect caption, but I must say that in this instance it isn't a big deal. Outdoor has never been a publication aimed at the scientific...

One other topic, Flickr.

I have a friend who's wife is a photo-buyer for a large textbook company. They have an exclusive contract with Getty for images, but she tells me that before she looks at...

Photo Workshops and Intellectual Copyright Law

Hi Kathy,

Just a thought about attempting to cover and quantify the issues behind photo workshops and workshop handouts. Most nature photographers have turned to teaching as an additional source...

I've had some difficulties with wordpress, as their CSS configuration can be a bit obtuse. It's not that they are bad, just that if you plan on being able to configure all of their preferences...

Video Cam

Hi Allison,

Yes, I am using a Canon XHA1 - I use it tethered to a computer for my interview pieces, and so I can use power from a 110 volt outlet, and then I use it with the miniDV tapes for when...

Hi Allison,

Congrats on raising funds for your latest trip - I know it's no easy task in this economy. As for the mystery number on the batteries, it indicates the capacity of the battery.

Epson vs. Canon

I've also had some similar issues with my epson printers - a 4000, 7600, 7800. The print head have a limited life, and when the one in my 7600 died, Epson wanted a huge amount of money to fix it. I...

Yes, I saw that Art Wolfe and others are on Photoshelter. The only caveat here is that Art Wolfe doesn't need Photoshelter's name to sell his images - I would imagine that he can attract a fair...

Video Camera

I would also recommend the Canon XHA1 - I bought one about 6 months ago for just under $3000 - you might be able to find one used for the 2,800 - 2,500 , though I wouldn't count on it, as they seemed...

Question Accepting Credit Cards - Worth it?

Hi All,

I've been wondering about this for a while. I run photo workshops, and currently I don't accept credit cards, or online sign-ups. Looking around the internet, it seems like the photo...
