One of main projects for this year is taking wildflower photos. Thought I would post one here to get things started. I am open to comments, critiques, suggestions. This is a wild poppy taken in my garden.
I agree, a successful image to be sure. Not only is the center of focus well presented with a classic "X" composition, but you've used depth of field very well in controlling the focus of your background, as not to distract with other unnecessary elements.
The composition reminds me of a classic painting, "The Raft of Medusa" by Gericualt - if you have a chance, look up this masterpiece and you'll see a very similar "X" composition which creates a strong base for the flowers to extend - or in the case of the painting, for the raft below the ocean and menacing clouds.
