Default Finger Lakes in the Fall - October 20th-24th

"Beautiful falls colors, flowing waterfalls, ripe vineyards, and historical landmarks"

When: October 20th - 24th, 2013
Workshop Size: 10 Participants
Instructors: Nick Chill & Byron O'Neal

I am really excited to launch the photography workshop to the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York this year. An area largely known for its wineries and for Cornell University, the Finger Lakes are off the main radar as a destination location for landscape photography however few of the hot spots that grace the pages of OP magazine can compare to the diversity of this picturesque region. Colorful rolling hills during harvest time, vineyards heavy with grapes, historical landmarks, and gushing waterfalls are just a few of the varied subjects we will be visiting during this five day fall workshop.

Our itinerary is designed to put you in the right place at the right time in a comfortable and relaxed environment. We stay accessible so you can ask questions and donít wander off to shoot our own images. We put our cameras down to lift you up.

Some of the locations we are planning on visiting are Watkins Glen State Park, Fillmore Glen State Park, Ithaca Falls, Taughannock Falls, Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge, the Seward House, historic Seneca Falls, the Willard Chapel, a visit to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and a winery tour.

In addition to hunting for spectacular fall color opportunities, we will be focusing on techniques for shooting stunning waterfall images and using HDR techniques to help manage dynamic range problems in indoor shooting conditions. Our learning extension sessions will be focused on these topics as well as covering some Lightroom basics.

This workshop is appropriate for photographers at any level. Point and shoot, digital (DSLR), or film cameras are all welcome. At no additional cost at the beginning of this workshop, we offer a two hour camera basics learning extension session for anyone interested to help you feel comfortable with your camera before venturing into the field. It is not mandatory but offered as a courtesy for folks wanting a little more instruction on manual controls.

For more information including photos of the area, please visit us at O'Neal Photographic Workshops. See you soon.
